Information Technology Policies and Standards
|Search Engine Effectiveness (Deprecate)|

To Be Reviewed
This standard ensures that the City's official website/s are developed from a user-friendly, user-driven perspective.
Meta-data must be used to enhance search engine effectiveness.
Unique title and description meta tags should be used on all pages; keywords are highly encouraged.
An estimated 80% of website visitors use search-engines regularly for navigation purposes. With 3,000 pages on the City's public www server, the search often becomes the best or only way to find specific information.
Meta-data also ensures search engine effectiveness for the large search engines as well: google, altavista, yahoo, etc.
